Rainer Blatt
Rainer Blatt is a Professor at the University of Innsbruck and Research Director at IQOQI Innsbruck, working in ion-trap based quantum optics, quantum information science and metrology. They realize 2 dimensional arrays of microfabricated ion traps for future quantum simulation and computation experiments, study interfaces between single trapped ions and single photons in the framework of cavity quantum electrodynamics (CQED), have realized one of the best controlled and most complex multi-qubit system, are working on novel optical clocks with quantum logic read-out and more. The group hosts on average half a dozen of postdocs and almost two dozens of PhD students.
